Grilling where gas and charcoal are banned
An electric barbecue is allowed on almost every balcony and on campsites that ban open flames. At Kampeerwinkel Roermond you find the Weber Pulse and Q 1400, Napoleon and compact table models from Tristar for the campsite.
What to look for
- Power: 2,000 watts and up for real grilling; on a 6-amp hook-up 1,200 watts at most.
- Lid: for indirect cooking and less smoke.
- Grate: cast iron gives sear marks and holds heat.
- Stand: sold separately for Weber Pulse and Q.
Frequently asked questions
Can I grill electrically on the campsite?
Yes, with a model up to 1,200 watts on a 6-amp hook-up; check the site's rating.
Does electric taste different?
Less smoke, but with a cast-iron grate and the lid down it is close to gas. See also gas barbecues, Weber and camping appliances.
